Old Town Pasadena Engagement Session | Beth and Ricky

When I met Beth and Ricky on the phone, the first thing that hit me was that they knew how perfect they were for each other. High school sweethearts. Constant companions. Culminating in a wedding that was not only a celebration of the future, but a celebration of every experience that brought them to this point. Beth told me that much of what she had become and experienced was because Ricky was always willing to try new things and to take risks. Ricky quickly pointed out how Beth keeps him sane and organized, and how difficult life would be without her. When we met for the first time on the day of their shoot, I saw something else there- a passion that could only be cultivated by experiencing life together with your best friend.

We started on a sunny, hot day in south Pasadena, then finished our day off in the cool twilight of beautiful Pasadena City Hall. I hope you love these images as much as I enjoy telling their story. Below are a few favs, with much more in the slideshow below! ~Timon

Santa Monica Engagement Session | Agata and Kevin

I seem to meet more and more couples now who tell me that they met through an online dating site. Agata and Kevin, on the other hand, met online via…get this- a photo group at Flickr! Who would’ve guessed that for these two, an honest but sweet photo critique would turn into the beginning of something much bigger.

If you’re wondering how in the world we ended up at a waterfall, let’s just say that Kevin and Agata are definitely outdoorsy, fit to say the least, and not at all scared of a “little” hike. (They did Half Dome.) They like rocks and water, so with all gear tucked away into bags, we hiked, scaled, and climbed our way in to this:

After we hit the destination, we scurried on back out quickly to catch the remaining light left of the day.

Timon and I both really like this one. I love grassy knolls!

I love how they were able to be themselves in front of the camera, even though they’re the ones usually behind the camera snapping away.

This chopper came to our rescue once we realized we stayed out too late in the trails. J/K… it was just cool how it flew so close to us and Kevin and Agata were enthralled so we snapped some shots.

This little green buddy has a special meaning to the two…so they brought him along

I leave you with one last photo. Looking forward to their 7/3/11 wedding at the Annenberg Community Beach House! Two days before our own 8th anniversary! How time flies…

USC Engagement Session | Mona and Phil

Mona and Phil’s e-session was taken at the beautiful campus, USC! Although I’m a Bruin myself, I would tag along to shoot there again anytime. :)

Timon loved this shot. I do too…so sweet, with the water feature and all. (Maybe it’s the kid in me…but now I can’t stop wondering… has anyone ever dropped their backpack in the water before? After all these years someone must have..!?)

The next 3 photos were the last 3 photos of the day and a bit of an experiment. I’m curious…out of pure preference, which one do you like best? Mona and Phil’s favorite was the first one… and also the last one. Mine was the 2nd one, for reasons of the graphic designer in me.

Long Beach Wedding and Lifestyle Photography | Light and Sal

Light and Sal had their wedding on a beautiful day in Long Beach, at the CSULB Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden. The garden allows you to hold your ceremony on a bridge! Can’t think of a more romantic spot to get married on. After the wedding, we headed over to a park that they frequent with their three doggies, one of which got to walk down the aisle. The day only got better and better as we hit our last stop, the Long Beach State baseball stadium: Blair Field, where he once played, and where he also proposed! He told us how the Long Beach State University’s baseball team got their nickname Dirtbags…how it refers to their gritty play and determination…how the LBSU team first started out with all new players without a home field. They’d practice at a local all-dirty pony field, covered in dirt, and win its first 18 games, advancing to their first College World Series appearance. The best part of the story is, Sal brought Light on their first date to this special place which he told her was his “Field of Dreams”… after Sal proposed to Light at a Long Beach State baseball game, he told her that she made one more dream come true at Blair Field.

Light was one of the most relaxed, kick-back brides I ever met. Everything was carefree. This was the one detail she did put her handprint on for her wedding day, and it was worth it:

His name is Cocoa. He is beloved. He presented the ring and got to strut the walk down the aisle.

Sal said that he loves how Light is beautiful. Oh yea, and smart, funny, practical, and loves to cook. So awesome…I think I have one of those things: loves to cook. But here’s Light:

Felicia + Kenneth Mini-Session, Long Beach Gondola Getaway

A little shoot we did with our good friends before their wedding. Liz was the maid of honor, but I couldn’t resist getting a few pics! So we scheduled a beautiful get together where we revisited the spot of the original proposal, went on the same gondola ride, and even ate at the same restaurant! Such an amazing time for us, and one we’ll always remember… -Timon
